Bring Back Personal Blogs

22 Nov 2025

I whipped this up one freezing Saturday morning after reading this Hacker News article about personal blogs making a comeback. Inspired from the minimalist aesthetic of Hacker News, Paul Graham's downright basic website, and a growing fatigue to overly curated digital content I decided it was time to claim my own corner of the internet with as little effort as possible. No, I don't want to learn a new framework.

I had already, earlier this year, setup the homepage during a vibey programming session where I was experimenting with 3js and OpenGL Shader Language (GLSL). This was in an attempt to recreate the surface of Lake Chiemsee I spent hours watching whilst "sailing" this summer. I say "sailing" because on more than one occasion we had found ourselves becalmed and were forced to endure the absolute bliss of nothing to do except float under the Bavarian summer sky. Once the shader was complete I added a small .glb of Mt. Taranaki to cure some homesickness, and for good measure, threw in an inflatable Flamingo.

This is a place to share my thoughts, projects, learnings and anything else I find interesting along the way. Everything here is meant to be authentic as possible. No AI generated slop.

Cheers! Happy reading.
